Church of Saint Mamas
Feast day: September 2
The main church of Alaminos, completed in 1992. Like the older church of the village, it is also dedicated to saint Mamas. The exterior of the three-aisled vaulted basilica is covered with white stone. The central nave is vaulted, while the side naves are covered by tiled single-pitch roofs. The main entrance (west) has an open portico with an archway and is covered by a steep-pitched tiled roof. The south entrance is externally sheltered by a single-pitched canopy. The windows of the church are double-arched, with the exception of the one to the right of the main entrance.
The church is also lit by the apertures of the central aisle. At the southeast of the church is the bell tower, which is built on four levels and is covered by a small dome. A mosaic depiction of saint Mamas is found on the exterior of the west wall. The interior of the church was partially decorated. The 19th-century icon of saint Mamas sitting on the lion, while holding a lamb, was transferred from the older church of Alaminos. The feast day of the church is on the 2nd of September.
