Church of saint Marina
Feast day: July 17
The single-aisled basilica with cross vaults has a five-sided external conch, covered by radial domes. The external buttresses are connected to each other, forming pointed arches. The church has five entrances (north, west and south sides), the two of which (north and south walls) of smaller dimensions, lead to the wooden gallery (gynaikonitis in Greek) via an internal staircase. In addition to the windows, light enters the church from the apertures of the superstructure. The doors are decorated with stone frames with relief decoration. On the western wall are niches where the venerated icons were placed for worshipping them during litanies. The stone belfry at the north-eastern end of the church was erected in the early decades of the 20th century. It was dismantled and rebuilt in 1990, for making the necessary repairs after an earthquake.
The church is of large dimensions, which, as the inscription above the south door (outside) states, was erected in 1900, on the site of an older one. It was inaugurated in 1911, during the period of archpriesthood of Meletios IV, Metropolitan of Kition. Between 2016 and 2017 it was restored. The church owns valuable icons dating from the 16th to the 20th century. The wood-carved iconostasis was made in 1900. The icons of the iconostasis were painted by the two blood brothers, monks Niphon and Kyrillos, in the beginning of the 20th century. The church also has an elaborate wood-carved Holy Altar with a ciborium. The feast day of the church is on the 17th of July.
