Church of the Transfiguration of Christ

Feast day: August 6

The church of the Transfiguration of Christ (Chrysosotiros) is located in the centre of Delikipos. It is a single-aisled building made of irregular stones, with a semi-circular arch inscribed within the eastern wall. It is covered by a wooden double-pitched roof. The current phase dates to 1726, as the inscription near the entrance states. The main entrance of the church is on the west side and there is also an entrance on the south. For the construction of the church were used materials and architectural members from an older building located nearby. On the pediment of the western wall there is an oculus.

The church is also illuminated by the two small windows on the northern and southern walls. It was renovated at the beginning of the 21st century by the Department of Antiquities. The small bell of the church is attached to a wooden structure, which is flanking the eastern wall. In addition to the wood-carved iconostasis, the church owns important icons, the oldest dating to the 17th century. The church is a listed monument (Table B). The feast day of the church is on the 6th of August.
