Chapel of Archangel Michael
Feast day: September 6
A small, single-aisled vaulted chapel with a pointed arch and a three-sided apse. The chapel is accessible via small stone steps (west and south doors). The external buttresses are extended along the entire height of the walls of the chapel. The windows are pointed and have simple geometric decoration. Above the west door is a stone slab with a cross, while above the south door is a rectangular shallow niche. The interior of the chapel is quite dark, since it has only one small window in the apse and two small oculi on the west and east walls. The chapel has a simple wooden iconostasis. The icons of the iconostasis were painted by the hieromonk Dionysios Christidis, an important icon painter and abbot of the Monastery of Stavrovouni. On the north wall, near the iconostasis still remain fragments of a decorative band with floral decoration. The chapel’s small bell is attached to a metal structure located in its precinct. The exact date of the construction of the chapel is unknown. Its feast day is on September 6.
