PANAGIA (IN PARSATA)

Chapel of Panagia (in Parsata)

Feast day: Friday of diakainisimos (Bright Week)

The chapel is located in the abandoned and now ruined settlement of Parsata, at the Vasilopotamos valley, and is administratively located within the territory of the village of Ora. The icon of the Mother of God from the 16th century, which today is kept at the church of saint Marina in Ora, comes from the old church of Panagia at the village of Parsata. The chapel is a small single-aisled building with a gabled tiled roof and a semicircular apse. The main entrance is on the west side, while there is also an entrance on the south side. The church is lit by the oculi above the west entrance and the two windows in the north wall and the middle of the sanctuary niche. The belfry is at the southeast end, flanking the apse. The chapel has a wood-carved iconostasis, pews and icons of the 20th century. The feast day of the chapel is on Friday of the Bright Week (diakainisimos in Greek).
