CHAPEL OF THE UNMERCENARY SAINTS KOSMAS AND DAMIANOS

Chapel of the Unmercenary saints Kosmas and Damianos

Feast day: November 1

The chapel is dedicated to the Unmercenary saints Kosmas and Damianos. It is a stone-built, single-aisled chapel with a semi-circular apse and a steep-pitched roof with tiles. The main entrance (western) is protected by a single-pitched canopy. There is also a door on the north side. Apart from the small aperture in the wall of the apse, the chapel has no other windows. The stone belfry was constructed in its vicinity. The chapel was built in 1919, at the expense of Damianos Hadjigeorgiou. It was renovated in 2006 and inaugurated on November 1, 2012 by Barnabas, Metropolitan of Tremithous, as indicated by the marble slabs that flank the south door. The iconostasis is carved in wood and the icons are contemporary, while the oldest of them are from the beginning of the 20th century. The chapel celebrates on November 1st.
